Back on New Year's or there about, I decided my 2023 goal would be to use up enough blues and greens from my stash in order to get the overflow off the shelf and in to the drawer.  I placed a piece of tape to mark the top of the pile and to be able to watch my progress.   

Therefore, in order to use my stash, my second goal for 2023 will be to make at least one scrap/stash quilt per month.    And that's also why I am promoting scrap quilting at my Saturday Sew dates this year.  Here was the first quilt we made using Lori Holt's Scrappiness is Happiness book.  It is called Scrappy Crossroads.  And I still have a lot of 2 1/2" squares left in the basket.  But, I am working on those.

Triangle Pizazz Junior Year Project in Modern Opulence

The Triangle Pizazz is just one of six projects that are part of the Tucker University Junior year curriculum.

This is an example of the table runner.  It is made up of three 12” finished blocks, four pieced side setting triangles, and four corner setting triangles plus an inner and outer border. It measures 26 ½” x 60”.

The Tucker University Design Sheet for this project also provides the fabric requirements and cutting instructions for a Twin Size quilt that measures 76” x 100”. 

This project requires the use of a Tucker University Triangle Pizazz Design Sheet, a Studio 180 Design Triangle Pizazz Technique Sheet, a Shaded Four Patch Technique Sheet, and a Tucker Trimmer.  Feel free to check out other Junior Year Design Sheet projects.  These items can be purchased at Tucker University https://www.tuckeruniversity.net/.

You will begin by making three different Triangle Pizazz units.  The difference between the units is the fabric placement and the slant of the half square triangle within the Triangle Pizazz unit.  The instructions for making Units A and B come on the Triangle Pizazz Technique Sheet.

Next, you will make a few Shaded Four Patch units that are used in the 12” finished blocks as well as the pieced side setting triangles. 

The pieced side setting triangles include a Shaded Four Patch unit with a 2 ½” corner stone and two 2 ½” x 3 ½” sashing rectangles.  These items are stitch together first followed by a side setting triangle on each side to create the entire side setting triangle. 

Assembly of the blocks and side setting triangles are completed in an on-point positioning or on a diagonal.  In Studio 180 Design fashion, the side setting triangles and corner setting triangles are slightly oversized.

Trim both sides, the top, and bottom allowing for ¼” seam allowance. 

Attach the inner border and the outer border.  Enjoy.
